The UK government has announced that the Renault 4, Renault 5*, and Alpine A290 will now qualify for the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant (ECG), a significant uplift from the previous £1,500.
This decision follows confirmation that the majority of each model is manufactured in France, meeting the required European production criteria under the updated scheme.
This announcement positions Renault and Alpine’s latest electric models among the most competitively priced EVs in the UK market. With an additional £2,250 of government support, these models now enter the market with enhanced accessibility for UK drivers considering the switch to electric.
